So, we unfortunately need to pivot from our original Wisconsin Assistive Technology Regional Network (WATRN) meeting topic as the person we had lined up to present can no longer present due to her schedule, although she did offer to talk about seating and positioning at a later date, so stay tuned! Given that information, we came up with a stellar plan B.
Summer Meeting
One of the most amazing things about WATRN is our ability to bring our collective voices together from throughout the state to support each other. We will be holding another virtual meeting on Thursday, 8/13 from 10 am - 12 pm (2 hours) to discuss the upcoming school year. There is so much to be discussed. The agenda will look like this:
10-10:15 - Introduction-Mike and waiting for people to enter the meeting
10:15-11:00 Breakout rooms > We are asking attendees to register for a room when you sign up.
Engineering the Covid Classroom/Therapy room (Sharon)
Remote AT/AAC evals/modeling AAC (Jennifer)
Working with families/coaching (Mike)
Behavior Regulation and Executive functioning in home (virtual) and in the classroom (Cassie)
Online learning activities/ideas (Kelsey)
All breakout rooms will be focusing on virtual learning or in school learning in the covid environment. It will be a discussion with everyone sharing ideas, asking questions, and discussing what's worked for them, and supporting each other.
11-11:50 Each of the 5 breakout groups will be given 10 minutes to bring main points from their discussions to the whole group so that everyone can hear some of what was discussed in each room.
11:50-12:00 Wrap-up.
This meeting will not be recorded due to using breakout rooms and wanting people to be able to share freely without fear. It will be a live event only and will be capped at 100 people as that is all my Zoom account or Mike's can host. We will create a working document that is inclusive of the ideas discussed and shared and post it to the Wisconsin AAC Network's website: https://wisconsinaacnetwork.org/ sometime after the meeting for those that cannot attend or want to sign up for more than one breakout room!
Please register on the Google Form ASAP if you can attend.
Registration link is on the 2019-2020 WATRN invitation in the Summer column: http://bit.ly/WATRN19-20
Due to the limited capacity for attendees, please only sign up if you can attend the meeting and participate in the breakout room discussions. Registration is first come, first served. If we reach capacity, a link to the meeting will be emailed out to the first 100 educators who teach in Wisconsin. If we do not reach that limit, registrations based on FCFS from other states will be considered. Attendees will be emailed a link to the Zoom meeting 24 hours before the meeting. We will not be preparing presentations as this will be run more like a roundtable discussion with everyone sharing questions, concerns, ideas, etc. Each group will put together a document that outlines what was discussed and resources to share with the great group of attendees in the last hour of the meeting. All breakout room discussions will be moderated by a WATRN leader. This is your time to connect with others across the state and get a pulse on how others are tackling in person and remote learning this school year focusing on Assistive Technology!
If you previously registered for the summer meeting, you will need to re-register as you'll need to choose your breakout room.
I'm looking forward to the great discussions, and hearing from all of you!
Jennifer
